R. Steven Jones MD


Dr. Steven Jones was born and raised in El Dorado, Arkansas. He attended Hendrix College, then Medical School at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he received his medical degree in 1983.

He then completed his internal medicine residency at Louisiana State University . His gastroenterology fellowship was completed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988. He completed a fellowship with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in 2011 and became board certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2015. He started private practice at the Little Rock Diagnostic Clinic in 1988 and moved to Premier Gastroenterology in June 2018.

Dr. Jones now practices general adult gastroenterology and weight management. In his 30 years of practicing Gastroenterology, he has helped thousands of patients and many family generations, achieve better digestive health, thereby restoring vitality, functionality, and a better quality of life for many. “I feel blessed and so fortunate to have served and gotten to know so many wonderful Arkansans over the years and this is what continues to drive my passion for GI care.” - Dr.Jones.

He's helped over 2000 clients in our weight loss clinic over the past 4 years and enjoys helping our weight loss clients achieve better health and create a healthier, more enjoyable lifestyle, utilizing the latest concepts in weight loss, behavorial modification, medications (when appropriate), and coaching techniques. He is also a certified eating psychology coach.

He also offers placement, management, and removal of both the Orbera and Obalon Intragastric Balloons for weight loss. Dr. Jones understands the importance of Lifestyle Coaching and incorporates those in his interactions with patients to further help them achieve their personal goals and move closer to wellness.
