Dhaval H. Patel MD
Dhaval Patel has been surrounded by medicine his entire life. His father was an Internal Medicine doctor and his mother was a registered nurse, consequently he had the opportunity to observe the caring aspect of medicine at an early age. He was able to capture the art of practicing as a health care provider by the examples of his parents and he knows the importance of developing strong relationships with his patients.
He was taught by his parents that “you treat patients how you would treat your family” and has followed that advice throughout his career. He believes in taking the time to listen and relate to his patients. He involves the patients in their care so that they are well educated about their condition. This allows them to have a better understanding and an active role in their healthcare decisions.
Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He then attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and remained there after graduation for an Internal Medicine residency; and was promoted to stay another year as Chief Resident. He then stayed another three years to complete his gastroenterology fellowship and was the Chief Fellow in his third year of that program. Arkansas is his home and he knew that he wanted to stay here to help his community stay healthy.
On June 1, 2018 Dr. Patel joined his partners in starting Premier Gastroenterology Associates.. He genuinely feels blessed to be a part of this community and he prays to serve his patients with the upmost respect and care.
He loves his job as a Gastroenterologist. The field of Gastroenterology has given him the opportunity to help patients with a variety of medical conditions, from the top to the bottom (pun intended). “I am able to care for patients with GERD & GI bleeding to patients with biliary disease, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and GI cancers. There is never anything mundane or redundant in this field”. He feels that it is very important that his specialty is not only cerebral, but also hands on when performing endoscopic procedures to treat his patients.
Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He is involved in the community and is dedicated to helping his patients live healthier lives.
